Hello! It's Juan RodriguezOlympic athlete turned software engineer.

I was born and raised in Madrid together with two brothers by a hard-working single mom. From a very young age, I was drawn to sports. I played basketball, judo and others, but the one that really hooked me was archery. So much so that I practiced it for 16 years, competed internationally, achieving European and world titles and participated at the Rio2016 Olympic Games.

While I was preparing for the games, I kept attending college. I graduated with a Telecommunication Engineering degree in 2019 at UPM after which I started deepening my knowledge of software engineering while developing several personal projects which you can check out below.

My current position is Senior Developer at Sabio where I'm working on the backend for its Bots as a Service platform as well as internal Bot development tools such as our NLP engine.

I'm looking for the next phase in my career. I want to make a difference. Work on projects where I can contribute my ideas, participate in the design as well as its development.

The app I'm currently most actively working on. It has more than 700 monthly active users.

It allows users to make passes compatible with the iPhone's Wallet app, as well as import their existing ones and even create new ones in one tap from their tickets and cards in PDF or image format with the new VisionFramework-based import tool.

The main focus of the app is making the creation of passes as easy and intuitive as possible, while providing as much customization as the Passkit framework allows.

Archery motion data archive

I made this app while learning Swift and iOS development.

Its goal is to record and store motion data from tens of archers during hundreds of practice sessions and provide shot analysis as well as health and workout data. This data is being anonymously collected in order to develop ML models that can automatically count arrows and analyze shot quality for my next app Shots.

To do this, there's a watchOS companion app that records the data and sends it to the iPhone using the WatchConnectivity framework, where it can be displayed and uploaded to Firebase Storage.

Archery performance tracker

A long-term project I'm working on.

It will support archery practice by providing shot analysis and performance tracking.

The main feature will be an automatic arrow counter for Apple Watch that, applying an ML model to motion sensor data, will help archers have fewer tasks and focus on their technique.
